Michigan CLASS in the Local Community

Michigan CLASS was specifically created to service public-sector public agencies throughout the state of Michigan, giving them an opportunity to invest funds on a cooperative basis in short-term investments that are carefully chosen to yield favorable returns while striving to provide maximum safety and liquidity. Here at Michigan CLASS, we are keenly aware of the unique needs of the many different entity types in the state of Michigan. As such, Michigan CLASS supports and sponsors several statewide organizations whose objectives strive to assist municipal finance officers in their day-to-day roles.

As of August 2019, Michigan CLASS serves more than 500 public agencies of varying entity types; we understand that, as a finance professional, you are responsible for not only the financial operations of your entity but the development of your department and continual understanding of industry best practices. Rich Garay | 27 Years in Public Finance

Rich has more than 25 years of experience with Michigan public finance organizations and an additional eleven years in the public sector as the former City Treasurer for the City of Ann Arbor, Michigan. He earned Certificates of Completion from both MMTI and CMFA. He currently serves on several committees of state financial organizations and has previously received the Michigan Municipal Treasurers Association Service Award (2015).

Kristin Angel | 11 Years in Public Finance

Kristin is actively involved with numerous organizations including the Michigan Government Finance Officers Association, the Michigan Association of County Treasurers, the Michigan Municipal Treasurers Association, the Michigan School Business Officials, and the Michigan Women in Finance group. She also serves on several boards including the Michigan Council on Education Women’s Network Executive Board of Directors and the Michigan State University WKAR Advisory Council.
